I have always enjoyed and achieved highly in science and maths. I also appreciate problem solving and the feeling of achievement associated with the practical use of design and technology, which I studied to GCSE level. Throughout the course I worked with materials including plastics, woods, and metals and designed and built various items including a table lamp and a propagator for germinating seeds.
I have been involved in various projects with my father, including erecting a pergola, a wooden shed and building a large brick shed at the bottom of the garden. I also constructed a wooden chicken coop to my own design. These projects have given me an insight into dealing with building regulations and the need for planning, design and accurate measurement. I have gained experience in the use of building materials, taking both cost and physical properties into account.
Studying civil engineering at university will provide me the opportunity to further study the areas of science, maths, design and technology that I enjoy, as well as to gain many other skills. Studying civil engineering will offer me a wide range of challenging and fulfilling career opportunities. I would like to apply for the foundation year, which after completion, will allow me to progress onto the civil engineering course. I am particularly interested in how civil engineering skills can be applied with maximum benefit to society whilst having minimum impact on the environment.
I did two weeks work experience with a consultant paediatrician in ------- Hospital in ---------- during the Easter holidays of 2008. I also did two weeks work experience with a general dental practitioner in ----------------. Both of these experiences showed me the importance of communication skills, leadership and teamwork in the smooth running of an organisation. After further consideration, I realised that I would not be happy in the healthcare profession and instead was drawn more towards civil engineering, which I feel is closer to my interests.
During the last two years, I have participated in the schoolcommunity action group, which involved weekly visits to a retirement home in -------- to organise a coffee morning for the elderly residents. We served tea and biscuits and provided company to those who attended. During the schoolactivities week in June I helped out in classes at the ------- School for children with special educational needs. Outside school, I did voluntary work at St. Anne Hospice charity shop on Saturday mornings. I have also received a certificate from Millennium Volunteers for completing 117 hours of voluntary work.
In school I am a silver prefect and am involved in the running of the ------ society. I enjoy languages and am learning ------- in my spare time. I attended a one month intensive ------ course in the summer holidays at the ----- centre in -------. I have attended a twenty hour weekend course by I to I on teaching English as a foreign language arranged by my school. I am a keen gardener with an interest in permaculture. I grow fruit and vegetables in our back garden and also keep several hens. This has made us self sufficient in eggs and Jerusalem artichokes and gives a good crop of strawberries in the summer.

一、昆士蘭州
是澳洲知名的陽(yáng)光州，這里擁有非常好的自然環(huán)境，經(jīng)濟(jì)的發(fā)展水平也不錯(cuò)，不過(guò)知名的院校不多，所以對(duì)留學(xué)生來(lái)說(shuō)吸引力不是特別大，相應(yīng)的留學(xué)收費(fèi)也比較便宜。
這里的只有昆大和昆科大，大家本科專(zhuān)業(yè)的學(xué)習(xí)一年需要2-3.5萬(wàn)澳幣之間;研究生學(xué)習(xí)在2.8-3.5萬(wàn)澳幣之間，生活支出一年只需要1.5萬(wàn)澳幣左右，還是比較合適的選擇。
二、西澳州
知名城市是珀斯，這里的工業(yè)尤其是能源產(chǎn)業(yè)非常發(fā)展，偏向基礎(chǔ)工業(yè)的發(fā)展，所以在城市的人文建設(shè)上不太出色，此外留學(xué)生可以選擇的大學(xué)也比較少，不過(guò)這里的生活還是比較舒適的。
可以選擇西澳大和科大，學(xué)習(xí)的環(huán)境比較單純，留學(xué)生的數(shù)量較少，本科的學(xué)習(xí)一般需要2.7-3.3萬(wàn)澳幣之間，碩士至少準(zhǔn)備2.8-3.8萬(wàn)元，每年的生活費(fèi)也在1.5萬(wàn)澳幣之間。
三、南澳州
和西澳相對(duì)應(yīng)的，這里的基礎(chǔ)資源不多也不豐富，因此城市的發(fā)展中心在文化、教育和醫(yī)療方面，社會(huì)的便利程度高而且舒適，是非常宜居的城市，這里有八大之一的阿大，還有南澳大。
學(xué)校的階段收費(fèi)區(qū)別不大，基本都在2.7-4萬(wàn)元之間，和其他幾個(gè)州相比會(huì)稍貴一些，而生活開(kāi)銷(xiāo)一年準(zhǔn)備1.3-1.6萬(wàn)元就基本足夠了，這里的物價(jià)還是比較親民的。
四、塔斯馬里亞州
如果大家想要享受更加正宗的澳洲真實(shí)生活，可以去塔州，相對(duì)獨(dú)立的環(huán)境，能夠更好的感受生活，而且這里的物價(jià)開(kāi)銷(xiāo)也會(huì)低上不少，一年的留學(xué)生活，準(zhǔn)備1-1.4萬(wàn)澳幣足夠了。
而大家在這里也可以選擇他大和塔理工，同樣是很優(yōu)秀的學(xué)校，每年的學(xué)費(fèi)只需要2.8-3萬(wàn)澳幣就可滿(mǎn)足需求。
