十月正值金秋，是一個(gè)都收獲的季節(jié)。也有人認(rèn)為秋天是一個(gè)容易憂郁的季節(jié)。那蕭瑟的秋風(fēng)，那滿地的落葉，都訴說(shuō)著一種沉重。但是換一個(gè)角度，其實(shí)秋天也是美好的，可以欣賞滿眼的金黃，可以感受炎熱過(guò)后的點(diǎn)點(diǎn)涼意。
I went out in the afternoon. It was too early in the year for a heavy fall of leaves, but nevertheless the garden was covered. They were washed to the sides of the roads, and lay heaped up over the road-gratings, masses of gorgeous harmonies in red, brown, and yellow. The chestnuts and acorns dropped in showers, and the patter on the gravel was a little weird. The chestnut husks. split wide open when they came to the ground, revealing the polished brown of the shy fruit.
這天下午我信步出門。還不到一年中落葉紛飛的季節(jié)，花園卻已被枯葉覆蓋。它們被雨水沖到路邊，堆積在陰溝格柵上，紅色的，褐色的，黃色的，一堆堆，一叢叢，既絢麗多彩，又和諧悅目。橡雨點(diǎn)般紛紛墜下，嗒嗒地拍打在鵝卵石上，給人一種神秘感。栗子的外殼在撞擊在地面上時(shí)完全綻裂開來(lái)，露出油光光羞答答的褐色果肉。
I went a little further up the hill: a flock of about fifty sheep were crossing from a field on one side of the road to another directly opposite. A farmer came up in his gig and was held back. He used impatient language.Oh farmer! Which is of more importance to the heavenly power-that you should not be stopped, or that the sheep should loiter and go into that field at their own pace? All sheep, by the way, look sad. 我繼續(xù)朝山上走了一段路：只見(jiàn)一群綿羊，大約五十多只，正從路邊一塊田野穿過(guò)大路，走向正對(duì)面的另一塊田野。它們緊緊地?cái)D在一起，背部構(gòu)成一片綿延起伏的平面。牧羊人去追趕一頭離群的羊，羊群一時(shí)間停在了大路中間。一個(gè)農(nóng)夫這時(shí)架著一輛雙輪馬車路過(guò)，被擋住了去路。他不耐煩地使用了粗暴的語(yǔ)言。啊，農(nóng)夫!對(duì)于萬(wàn)能的上帝，哪件事情更加重要呢——你不應(yīng)該被擋住去路，還是羊群應(yīng)該以它們自己的速度慢悠悠地走向?qū)γ婺菈K田野?順便說(shuō)一句，羊群里的每一頭羊，都是滿臉的悲哀神色。也許，它們已經(jīng)隱隱約約知道自己的命運(yùn)。

Summer is the glorious time of the year when most of us can put on our shorts and short-sleeved shirts and actually feel the air and sunlight on our skin; when we don't have to turn up the heat in the morning when we get up; but also when we lay hot and sweaty in bed, unable to sleep at times (those of us who don't have air conditioning, anyway); when we get the sunburn and the heatstroke and all those wonderful things.

All green and fair the summer lies, just budded from the bud of spring, with tender blue of wistful skies, and winds that softly sing. How beautiful the summer night is, which is not night, but a sunless, yet unclouded day,descending upon earth with dews and shadows and refreshing coolness! How beautiful the long mild twilight,which, like a silver clasp, unites today with yesterday!

Summer is a sailor in a rowboat and ice-cream on your dress when you're four years old. Summer is a man with his coat off, wet sand between your toes, the smell of a garden an hour before moonrise. Summer is silk itself, a giant geranium and music from a flute far away!
