Obviously the ride up the steep cliff in that basket was terrifying.
很明顯的,乘坐籃子爬上陡峭的懸崖是相當令人害怕的。
One tourist got exceedingly nervous about half-way up as he noticed that the rope by which hewas suspended was old and frayed.
有位旅客約在半途中,注意到懸掛他的繩子很老舊而且被磨損時,心中感到極度緊張不安。
With trembing voice,he asked the monked who was riding with him in the basket how often theychanged the rope.
他用顫抖的聲音詢問與他一同乘坐在籃子里的修道士,他們多久換繩子一次。
The monk thought for a moment and answered brusquely,"Whenever it breaks."
修道士想了一會,然后粗率地回答:“繩子斷掉時。”

1、Lead us not into temptation
A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: "I have circled the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses."
When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note "I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket I'll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation."
2、Palm Sunday
It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm brances. The boy asked what they were for.
"People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by,"
"Wouldn't you know it?" the boy fumed. "The one Sunday I don't go He shows up!"
3、Good Ol' Sunday School
A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.
Four worms were placed into four separate jars:
The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.
At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:
The first worm in alcohol - Dead.
The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead
Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead
Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.
So the Minister asked the congregation -
What can you learn from this demonstration?
Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,
"As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!"
That pretty much ended the service.
