I never guessed my friendships with boys would become a problem.
Then, three months later, my friends told me that some teachers and girls said I was staying with boys all day long in order to get attention from them. I had already won prizes for the best math and English exams. A week later, the list came out and it didn’t include me. I was sad.
Mr. Wang came to me and said, “Don’t be sad. I know you’re excellent! Maybe you are a little distant from the girls in our class. They don’t know much about you, so some of them didn’t choose you. It doesn’t matter. Do your best to get along well with everyone and I think you’ll make it next time.”

Bali is a tiny island that is part of Indonesia(印度尼西亞) today. It is a pretty island that has many mountains and a pleasant climate. For a long time, Bali was cut off from much of the world.
The people of Bali were happy and had a peaceful life. They were not allowed to fight. At one time there had been terrible wars on Bali. Then the people decided it was wrong to fight or have wars. They made rules to keep apart those people who wanted to fight.
Bali was divided into seven small kingdoms. The land around each kingdom was kept empty, and no one lived there. Since the kingdoms did not share the same borders(邊界), the people could not fight about them.
On Bali, even children were not allowed to fight. If two children started a fight over a toy, someone separated them. When two boys argued, they would agree not to speak to each other. Sometimes they did not talk together for months; this gave the boys a chance to forget their anger.
Families who were angry with each other also promised not to speak. Their promise was written down, and the whole village knew about it. If they broke their promise, they had to offer gifts to their gods.

For people who are interested in space, nothing is more exciting than the idea of life on other planets. At first, when Mars showed signs of having life, everyone was excited. The idea has inspired many films and stories including The Martian(《火星救援》),which shows a man struggling to survive on Mars. But would it actually be possible to live there?
While the idea of living on Mars is great, the reality does not look as good. Mars does not have a friendly atmosphere(大氣) for humans. There is very little oxygen(氧氣)there, and because of the distance from the sun ,It is also very cold. The temperature on Mars can be -62℃ on average. This is much too cold for humans,
However, scientists say it might be possible to live there without an atmosphere. Mars has a similar amount of daytime to Earth, which means there’s enough sunlight to grow plants inside safe buildings. However they would have to grow in soil from Earth. Mars does not have a strong enough atmosphere to stop the radiation(輻射) from space, which makes it dangerous to grow things in the soil.
Also, the radiation causes problems to our health. One way we could survive the radiation and cold temperature would be to build homes under the ground or within the rocks(巖石) on the planet. These would give humans the heat and protection the planet doesn’t have.
Although it’s a long time before we would be able to live on Mars, NASA is hoping to make some progress within the next 20 years.
32. The film The Martian is mentioned in Paragraph 1 to___.
A. show people’s knowledge of Mars
B. tell readers something about the film
C. introduce the topic of living on Mars
D. explain the development of the film-making business

A. The temperature is cold.
B. There is very little oxygen.
C. Plants can grow on Mars easily.
D. Humans can possibly live on Mars.
34. Which is a good condition for humans to survive on Mars?
A. Mars has an atmosphere OK for humans.
B. Mars can get enough sunlight in the day.
C. The temperature is OK though quite cold.
D. Mars has soil for the plants to grow well.
35. What does the fourth paragraph mainly talk about?
A. How to protect Mars.
B. How to build homes on Mars.
C. What problems the radiation causes.
D. How to avoid bad conditions on Mars.
