He appears to have many friends.

He appeared to be talking to himself.

I appear to have made a small mistake.

The cat seems to want a drink.

He seemed to be feeling very tired last week.

I seem to have seen you somewhere before.

Nothing seems to have been forgotten.

He did not appear to resent it.

He appeared not to resent it.

She does not seem to be at home.

She seems not to be at home.

I can’t seem to find my glasses anywhere.

I seem to be unable to find my glasses anywhere.

He appears (to be) quite old.

She appears (to be) a very religious person.

What seems easy to some people seems difficult to others.

Mary seems (to be) a nice girl.

I spoke to a tall man who seemed to be the boss.

  seem后面還可跟like(一般不跟as),相當(dāng)于seem to be。如:

This small mountain village seems like a good place for a holiday.

  3.It appears/seems that…

It seems as if (though)… as if意為“像”、“好象”、“似乎”,只作連詞,引導(dǎo)狀語從句,通常用虛擬語氣,表示與事實(shí)相反的情況。 as if與as though同義。

It appears to me that you are all mistaken.

It seems that no one knew what had happened.

It seems as if (though) this pen were mine.

It seems as if it is going to rain.

---“I’ve been out in the rain” “我剛才在雨中淋過。”

---“So it seems”. or “It seems not”.

  4.在There appear/seem to be結(jié)構(gòu)中,appear ,seem的單復(fù)數(shù)形式由to be后面的名詞決定。

There appears to be a misunderstanding.

There appears to be no point in our continuing.

There seems to be some mistake.

There seem to be several reasons for changing our plans.
