英語口語對話一
A:Hi, Janice.
B:Hi, Steve. What's new?
A:I've just heard a speech by the mayor. He's an excellent speaker. His speech today was very powerful.
B:Yes, he's a good man. I like him. Although I don't always see eye to eye with him. I still respect him very much.
A:There's one good thing about him; he isn't behind the times. He knows this is the 21st century.
B:I like the way he got right down to business. He's a man of action. Right from the start. He doesn't waste time talking about problems. He likes to solve them.
A:That's true. He made a point of going to work immediately. The city has made a lot of progress since he's been the mayor.
B:He's very independent. He doesn't rely on others. He finds out everything first hand. Then he takes steps to improve the situation. That's what I admire in a leader.
A:He's the right man for the job.
B:I couldn't agree with you more.
A:Next time he gives speech I'll ask you to come along.
B:That would be great. Thanks a lot.
英語口語對話二
A:Hi, Mike. What’s new?
B:What’s wrong with you? Your face is swollen. You look terrible!
A:My jaw aches. I don’t know why.
B:Let me take a look. No wonder it hurts! One of your teeth looks decayed. You’d better see a dentist right away.
A:Do you think I have to? I’ve been putting it off for weeks. To tell the honest truth, dentists scare me to death. I get cold feet when I have to go to one. Even thinking of it makes me shake.
B:Don’t be silly. You’d be better off seeing one. I’ll make an appointment for you. Only a fool is afraid of the dentist!
A:Okay. I might as well go. But find me one who doesn’t hurt!
B:Come on. I’m your best friend. You can count on me. There’s nothing to be afraid of.
A:Well, if you say so, I’ll take your word for it.
英語口語對話三
A:I think I'm going to go home.
B:Why? We just got here.
A:I know, but it's 12:45 a.m. It's pretty late.
B:Twelve thirty a.m. isn't late! This party will probably go until three or four o'clock. C'mon, don't leave yet!
A:Three or four o'clock?
B:Sure.
A:I never stay out that late. That's too late.
B:But it's Saturday night. We have nothing to do tomorrow. Why not stay out?
A:Were you so wild when you were in Los Angeles,Robert?
B:Yes, I was. People know how to party here. In LA, some people know how to party. But here, everyone does. Do you want to smoke?
A:I don't want to.
B:That's alright. But I think you need another drink. People will probably start dancing soon.
A:I wonder if I can drink more. I already had three beers.
B:C'mon, Ann, you are in an American university now! You have to learn how to enjoy American life.
A:But a university is for studying.
B:That's true. We study hard all week. And then, on the weekend, we party hard. That's the best way to live. Remember? To be is to do and to play.
A:Alright. Another drink, please.
